Will AirCover cover all damages to my property by Airbnb guests?

AirCover for Hosts includes Host Damage Protection, which provides up to US $3 million in coverage if a guest causes damage to your property or belongings during an Airbnb stay and the guest does not pay for the damage. This protection is designed to help cover certain types of guest-caused damage, including physical damage to the home or contents, in rare circumstances.

It’s important to note that Host Damage Protection is not an insurance policy. It does not replace your own building or short-term rental insurance, and coverage is subject to Airbnb’s terms and exclusions. Some types of loss are not covered, including normal wear and tear, loss of cash or valuables, and damage caused by natural events such as bushfires, floods, or cyclones.

Airbnb also requires that damage is identified and reported within 14 days of the guest’s checkout, or before the next guest checks in, whichever comes first. Claims submitted outside this timeframe may not be eligible for coverage.

Because Host Damage Protection has limitations, we strongly recommend that all homeowners maintain appropriate short-term rental or landlord insurance to ensure broader protection for their property and financial peace of mind.
